Triaxcell produces micro-network structure BOPP film
Triaxcell, the company in Finland, has invented the technology for the stretching of microporous films, which helps processors to reduce the cost of raw materials for polymers and broaden the application range of BOPP films.
Triaxcell uses a polypropylene with a density of 0.3 g/cm3, which is only half the density of conventional microcellular polypropylene for extrusion. The micropores in the Triaxcell film are formed by adding a mineral filler such as calcium carbonate when the film resin is melted. As the film passes downstream through the longitudinal draw (MDO) device, the mineral filler can induce nucleation of the nucleus and the film then enters the hot gas diffusion chamber. During the stretching process, the high-pressure air or other gas in the film cavities expands to form a micro-reticular structure.
Triaxcell plans to use its high gas content micro-reticular BOPP film for container labeling and food packaging. This label can reduce the amount of polymer used, and it is not easy to break. Packaging materials made with high gas content microreticular BOPP film can provide thermal insulation and gas barrier properties for ice cream and other products.
