Fuji Heavy Industries oil-electric hybrid system uses high-power motors

According to overseas media reports, Japan's Fuji Heavy Industries Corporation recently unveiled a new type of hybrid electric power system under development at the General Motors Technology Tour held in Tokyo. The system is mainly for the "Sequential Hybrid Electric Vehicle (SSHEV)", supporting the use of a gasoline engine with a displacement of 2.0 liters and a motor with a maximum output of 100 kilowatts.
The transmission is equipped with a two-way clutch, which makes it easy to switch the power source from the motor to the generator between the low speed range and the high speed range. Also, motors and generators can be shared when accelerating. Because the transmission is a low-speed, high-speed transmission, it is driven by the motor when it starts to move forward, so it is not equipped with a starting device such as a torque converter. Therefore, the size of the motor and generator supporting system can be reduced.
