These micro-probes can circulate in the body with blood, so tumor metastasis can be tracked in multiple organs.

? Faster and better than MRI

Nanoprobes detect tumor micrometastasis in mouse adrenal and bone significantly faster than traditional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and other cancer monitoring techniques.

Vidya Ganapathy, author of the article and assistant professor of biomedical engineering, believes that this new technology can detect the presence and metastasis of cancer months in advance. "Cell cancer cells can grow in different gaps in the body, and the probes will 'track' these cells, no matter where they are transferred," she stressed.

Detecting over 100 cancers

It is reported that the new nanoprobe technology can detect more than 100 kinds of cancers, including real-time detection of lesions of multiple organs, which can achieve prevention and prognosis more accurately, such as clearing the stage of cancer development.

The research team estimates that it is expected to be used clinically within five years. In the future, nanoprobes can be used in a wide range of surgical procedures to mark the tissue removed from the surgical plan.
