Ming "play" autumn new 3D printing technology and even graphene materials with complex structures are not missed
Researchers at Virginia Tech and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory have reportedly developed a new process for 3D printing of graphene. The resolution of the graphene material printed by this process is an order of magnitude higher than before.
Previously, researchers could only print graphene as a 2D sheet or basic structure. Recently, according to Materials Horizons magazine, researchers from Virginia Tech College and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory have jointly developed projects to make graphene. Ultra-high resolution 3D printing has become a reality. With this new technology, it is theoretically possible to 3D print graphene materials of any shape and size.
Graphene has the advantages of high strength (one of the highest strength materials), thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity. The technology of 3D printing of graphene materials can be of great interest in many fields, such as batteries, aerospace, sensors and catalysts. Although graphene aerogel has a certain three-dimensional structure and its performance is better than graphite, its performance still cannot meet the needs of certain industries.
In the past, researchers could only print graphene by extrusion, but this technique only produced a simple structure that was stacked on its surface.
The study of 3D printed graphene began three years ago, and the first author of the paper, Ryan Hensleigh, has been following Zheng's research in this area. In order to create a complex structure using graphene, Hensley started from a graphene oxide (precursor of graphene) to obtain a porous hydrogel by cross-linking graphene oxide sheets. The hydrogel is then broken by ultrasound, followed by the addition of a photosensitive acrylate polymer, and micro-stereolithography is used to create the desired three-dimensional structure. Finally, Huntsley calcined the 3D graphene material, removed the polymer and fused the structure together.
