The CTP equipment is mainly composed of a circuit part, a pneumatic part and a mechanical part. The three parts complement each other and jointly complete the entire plate making process. This article will focus on the pneumatic part of the CTP device.

How does a CTP device load and unload media?

To understand the pneumatics in a CTP device, first look at how the CTP device loads and unloads media.

A version enters the CTP drum. First Drum (drum) is initialized, Drum is moved to the fixed position of the print head, then the LEC (head press bar) solenoid valve in the solenoid valve group works, and the LEC pressure bar presses on the head clamp. The head clamp opens, the Platedoor (black version door) solenoid valve works, and the Platedoor opens. At this time, we place the corresponding plate into the CTP along the guide glass and press the button.

The LEC solenoid valve works, the LEC leaves the head clamp, the Roller solenoid works, the Roller presses on the drum, and then the Drum rotates to the designated position. The TEC solenoid operates and the TEC presses on the drum. Afterwards, the TECunlock (release clamp unlocked) solenoid valve operates and TECunlock unlocks. The TEC solenoid valve works again and TEC leaves the Drum. Roller solenoid valve work, Roller left Drum. At this point a version is loaded.

The process of CTP unloading the media is the exact opposite of loading the media.

Gas supply system introduction

CTP equipment gas supply system generally needs to be provided by the outside. Taking Kodak CTP equipment as an example, it does not have a built-in air compressor. The air pressure is generally between 0.55 and 0.65 kPa, and the air is sucked at the filter behind the CTP equipment, as shown in Figure 1. .

The outside air enters the control heart solenoid valve group of the entire airway of the CTP via the tracheal tube. The solenoid valve group controls the movement of the mechanical part of the CTP equipment and the circuit controls the switching of the solenoid valve group. Figure 2 shows the circuit control lines of the CTP equipment solenoid valve.

The CTP equipment solenoid valve group consists of the following parts:

LEC (head pressure bar), for head clamp opening and closing control;

TEC (tail clamp pressure bar) for the snap-in control of the tail clamp;

TECunlock (unlock version) for unlocking the end of the clip on the stand and drum;

LoadRamp (guide plate) plays a guiding role for the upper and lower editions;

AirJet (blowing inside the laser head) cleans the exposed residue and protects the laser lens;

Platedoor (black version of the door), to prevent foreign matter from flying into the CTP, making the equipment in a safe state;

Roller (engraved rubber roller), the version close to the surface of the drum, more full exposure, focus adjustment more accurate.

Each part of the solenoid valve group is controlled by a separate solenoid valve. The LEC solenoid controls the LEC's left and right cylinders to control the LEC movement. As shown in Figure 3, LEC cylinders, TEC cylinders, and Platedoor cylinders each have two gas tubes above them. The solenoid valve controls the expansion and contraction of the cylinder by supplying air to one of the two air tubes separately, thereby controlling the movement of the corresponding components.
