According to the report, the main target markets for China's toy exports in 2016 are the United States, the European Union, Japan, the Middle East and Hong Kong. In 2016, China's exports of toys (large caliber) to these five regions totaled US$23.209 billion, compared with 2015. The increase was 2.16%.
In terms of traditional toy exports, in 2016, Guangdong’s traditional toy exports totaled US$11.409 billion, accounting for 62.03% of China’s traditional toy exports, ranking first; Zhejiang’s traditional toy exports totaled US$2.737 billion, accounting for Chinese traditional toy exports. The amount was 14.88%, ranking second; Jiangsu Province ranked third and Shanghai ranked fourth.
With the year-on-year decline in the export volume of light industrial products, the overall export of toys and baby products industry continued to grow, and the scale of the industry continued to expand. According to Zhang Chonghe, president of the China National Light Industry Association, the total number of manufacturers of toys and baby products in China is over 12,000, the industry employs 6 million, the industrial cluster reaches 20, and the A-share listed companies 6 A single leading enterprise achieved sales of more than 10 billion yuan.
Zhang Chonghe also said that the innovation ability of the toy and baby products industry is still insufficient, and its invention patents only account for less than 5% of the total number of patents in the country. The brand advantage is also relatively weak. Although China is a big country in the production of toys and baby products and a big exporter, the output advantage is obvious, but there are not many independent brands. Among the top ten brands in the Chinese toy and baby products market, national brands account for only about 30%. In addition, the lack of refined production and the difficulty of exporting to domestic sales are also urgent problems to be solved.
